Jimmy Esparza, CEO of Renewable Power USA, touched on the topic of expanding your business in a recent interview, and as he spoke, he shared the 4 game-changing skills that helped him rapidly grow his company and that directly relate to his success.
Communicational skills
People skills should always be your priority, as they’re foundational to creating a good relationship between your coworkers as well as the relationship you build with the customers that pay for your service or product.
This isn’t one skill, but rather, a collection of complementary skills such as leadership, empathy, communication, and many more, and all of these contribute immensely toward a strong business relationship and tight-knit teams of workers.
Esparza believes it’s important to understand how people react to things, and even more important to know how you’ll deal with these different reactions that the many different personalities you encounter today will present you with.
Relationship building
Building relationships is up next, and this applies to all aspects of running a business, starting with hiring a team and going all the way to finding partnerships for running your company.
The key to honing this skill is to approach every interaction with the intent to craft a quality relationship, and Esparza believes that developing a proper business relationship goes a long way when done right.
It all hinges on understanding the person you’re speaking to, and if you work hard on building that relationship, you’re set for success.
Self-care
Self-care is often swept aside as non-essential, but Esparza considers it a business tool, stating that taking care of yourself and your family directly reflects in the success of your business.
Practicing this skill varies from person to person, so keep trying until you find the thing that brings you peace and joy, and when you do, continue that self-care method.
Perseverance
Finally, but not least importantly, is perseverance, and Esparza believes that it was his perseverance that helped him expand his business to the scale it’s at right now.
He believes that as long as we persist, anything is possible, even if all the odds seem stacked against us, so long as we set the right goals for running our business, and as long as those goals are based on reality.
You may run into a hurdle or two along the way, and it’s exactly when this skill comes into play, helping you push on through the rough patch until your business is back on track.
